For the few subscribers I have, I am currently moving over to a new deviantID which has a slightly more respectable name. The new profile can be found via my deviant info, but I have also placed it here:

theunluckysteam.deviantart.net

I tell you this because if you wish to see more of my work, this is the profile that I will be using to publish from now on.

While this journal entry will be viewed by too few to make barely a difference, I need to vent.

Dearest fellow deviants, I have come across a few things on the games development section that crop up repeatedly, and so I wish to make an unofficial rulebook for posting in it. For shorthand, it will be referred to as the "GDAS".

1. The GDAS is NOT for posting screencaps of existing games!

For the sweet mercy of Cthulhu it's called Games DEVELOPMENT art. Now if it's your own game that you're screencapping, then fair enough, but do NOT screenshot a unit from Medieval II:Total War and promote it relentlessly (Yes, I'm calling you out whoever did that!)At best, these screencaps belong in the 3d art section under Digital Art. Personally I am not a merciful soul, and screencaps of existing games do not belong anywhere on this site.

2. The GDAS is NOT for demotivationals!

No, these aren't even art. deviant....ART. this is a place for art. Demotivationals are not art. Do not post demotivationals on deviantart. The GDAS section appears to routinely suffer from these, moreso than most sections, so please, get it the hell away from us! If you want to post Game demotivationals, please send them to Bob's House of Video Games (bobshouseofvideogames.com/) so we can all laugh at your failed attempt at humour in a more publicly-accessible way and you can wallow in your mockery with all the other dwellers of that site.

3. The 3D section is NOT for 2D artwork!

Sure, I'll give you this one deviants. I too find it hard discerning the "2" from the "3" when browsing through the artwork. And I, too, also find that all the images of 3D stuff is no indicator that I may be in the wrong section. So I understand when you submit your art you may not see a difference in whatever section you post in. Yep, totally cool with that. Post in the right section damn it. It's not seriously that hard to just make sure you're in the right section.

4. Submit in the right designation!

Now I'm not going to be angry with this one, overly, being as how there can be some personal interpretation on each object dependant upon the context in which they are used. But as a rule of thumb, if it's a car, bike, tank, jet, hovercraft, giant...laser...moving thing of doom, it's a vehicle. If it's a human, animal, monster, beast, creature, robot, then it goes in characters/animals section.

These are all that I can think of for the moment, but so help people if they find another thing that's stupid. I'll type, I swear I will!

And one step closer to being a games designer!

So all around the country, miserable 16 year old sods like me have been heading to our schools to collect our GCSE results, to determine if we go on to higher education, to university, to infinity and beyond! Yeah okay I may be overdoing it there, but the point still stands, its a pretty important thing.

And it is with a sigh of relief and a light heart that I can announce with confidence that I'm going on to A-Level!

4 As - English Lit & English Lang, Physics, Business and Communications

4 Bs - Media Studies, Biology, French and Maths

3 Cs - Chemistry, Design and Technology, Statistics

1 D - Business Studies

1 Distinction - IT

So it's a pretty fair set of results, not as good as most people in my school (we're supposed to be intelligent, although I prefer the term "special") but I'm crap at revising too many things at once. So onto the future!

Taking physics, IT, media studies and maths for A-level. I'm really glad I'm able to do the maths course as an A-level, because so many game design unis need one and at my school you need an A to do the maths. Actually, now that I come to think about it, so much hinged on being able to take the maths, that I'm relieved I've got the chance to take it higher to fulfil my dream.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I don't care, I am so happy I could...I don't actually know. Read a book? Yeah that sounds good.

Hey all you visitors, and deviantwatch. A bit of help from you Team Fortress 2 fans needed. Critique more like, I suppose. So here goes.

As you should know Valve has introduced the contribution system for tf2 where users can submit their own hats and weapons which can make their way into the game, or as I see it Valve's system of increasing the lifecycle of their own product at no expense to them.

Cynicism aside, I've decided to make my own set of weapons for the game. More specifically, the engineer. I wish to make an offensive set of equipment, including a new set of buildings. So here goes the list:

Primary - The Blundering Fuss. 1 shot, stun 3 sec, 30% increase damage, 40% increase reload time. Basically this weapon is like a single-shot defending shotgun, capable of stunning a few targets at once, but really is a back-up weapon

Secondary - The Nailer. 30% more damage to enemy buildings, can knock off sappers, 40% less damage to other players. This weapon should help greatly in an assault where there are many enemy engineers, who can usually destroy an assault with a few well-placed sentries. Bring an engi with the nailer, a few shots and BAM, sentry gone

Melee - [working on name]. Can detect spies, can destroy spies' cover, 20% less damage, 20% longer swing time. Looks like a spanner with a giant radar mounted on the side and a fan. Basically right-click with it equipped and if a spy's nearby then it will give a ping. every time you strike a little blast of air will come out in an arc, and any spy caught in it gets decloaked.

Buildings:

Motion-sensitive Sentry - 30% more health, 30% more damage, only detects moving enemies. Basically this fella will be useful in defending a counter-attack, when defenders charge around to find this guy staring at them. Not so good for defensive because if you're not moving, he won't shoot, and you can shoot at it.

Speed Station - 30% increased speed for 5 secs. Increases speed of your teammates. Charges up just like teleporter.

Crit Station - Mini-crits for 5 secs. Charges like a teleporter, gives mini-crits for 5 seconds. While designed for assault, I am aware this could be used in defence for a camping heavy to have a bit of fun with.

Mine - One-use, 75% scrap usage for upgrade. Basically a one-shot boom device, will use minimal resources to go up level of upgrades to make it worthwhile (ie 50 scrap/upgrade). Damage radius increases with each level, along with damage.

So there you have it, my grand plan and scheme for tf2 contribution. Thoughts/criticism on any of my ideas?

The time as I type is 2321. The street is quiet, orange light in the background coming from knackered lamps shining through the blinds.

But its not alright. Its not okay.

Its the end of an era.

Ashes to Ashes has finally finished.

It started with a copper from 2006, Sam Tyler, hit by a speeding car, and woke up in 1973. Was he mad? in a coma? Or was he back in time? All he knew was that it was like he'd landed on a different planet. It came around again with Alex Drake, who woke up in 1983. It ended with a copper from 2010, who had been in an accident and woke up in 1983. Was he mad? in a coma? Or was he back in time? All he knew was that it was like he'd landed on a different planet. Full cycle

Five years. It started with Life on Mars, it ended with Ashes to Ashes. Sam Tyler. Gene Hunt. Alex Drake. Ray Carling. Chris Skelton. Annie Cartwright. Shaz Granger. For five years these people have inspired me, inspired me to take up media as a GCSE and as of next year A-Level. I loved every moment I have ever watched, laughed at their every joke, ridden with every nadir and zenith in the lives of those most memorable characters. And now its gone.

Ended, fin.

I am crying. I never cry, never from a tv show. But here I am, the tears are still pouring down my face, typing a little blurry.

"Oh its only a TV show, Louis, why so sad?" are the words I hear being said to me. Its love. True love, like supporting a football team (I hate football, but the point still stands). Its an inspiration, a benchmark for what I hope to achieve. It has been a part of me for five long years, and in those beautiful ending scenes this chapter of my life has ended. Now I find myself on my own.

I'm not a TV bloke, never really liked it, don't see the need to. But then LoM and A2A comes along, comes along and goes. Now I'm left to say to myself "Alright Louis, you've a media GCSE (about to come) under your belt, soon an A-Level. You're the director now, you'll be guiding TV."

Now if you've been reading this so far you may be wondering that I've turned this into an ego trip for myself. Maybe I have. All I know is that its been these two, beautiful, shows, that have inspired me to make my own, have finished. Where does that leave me?

If you've read this far then congratulations you deserve a medal, and a well-deserved thanks for reading. Goodnight Deviantart
